BlackjackIn the game of Blackjack, you win if you receive a higher hand than the dealer without going over 21. If you go over 21 (bust), you lose immediately. All face cards count 10, Aces count either 1 or 11 and all other cards are face value. The dealer and players each get two cards. For example, if your two cards total 15, you can "stand" (take no additional cards) or you can "hit" (ask for additional cards one at a time). You show your decision to hit or stand by using hand gestures. Ask the dealer to demonstrate. After each player in turn has taken all the extra cards he wants, the dealer exposes his "hole" card and hits with 16 or less, and stands on 17. Should the dealer go over 21, you win. A 10-value card and an Ace is "Blackjack" and pays 3 dollars for every 2 you bet, unless the dealer has a Blackjack too, in which case you "push" (neither win nor lose). Splitting PairsYou may split pairs and play them as two separate hands by placing another equal bet on the table. You are able to split up to three times for a total of four separate hands. Should you split Aces, you are limited to a one-card draw on each hand, and if you draw a ten-value card, it will count as 21 but not as a Blackjack. Doubling DownYou can double your bet and take just one additional card. You may double any combination of your first two cards and you can double after you split pairs. InsuranceYou can place an "insurance" bet of up to half of your original bet if the dealer's "up" card is an Ace. If the dealer has Blackjack, your insurance bet pays 2 to 1. If you have Blackjack and take insurance, you are paid "even money." |
